A game design concept in the making: SpyGames (Update): Part #2

Hello its blogging time again, and its personal project update time again! Because today I'm giving an quick update on SpyGames.

The working logo for SpyGames

When we last left off, I discussed my design flow process of converting my preshot video fottage into frames of animation by using MAME with the correct hardware configuration and with the Computereyes software in Drive 1 and my work disk in Drive 2 scanned each photo that i could in the 8 Level Capture mode, saved them to the work disk then trasfer it over to Applewin where I could Use Koala Paint and then create a test animation With another peice of Software from Koala called The Graphics Exibitor (Not to be confused with the The Graphics Magician which im using for stills). While I was able to get a clear scan of the frames thanks to the Sketch mode of the video editor, Using DOS 3.3 formated storage disks limitd the frame mtorage to only out of the 200 images I could only fit around 15 frames per disk!

To remedy this I used a modified version of the of the Computereyes software on a .2mg and Apple Unidisk to use 3.5 inch disk images to get a more sutible 50

In that entry, i concluded that there were 3 challenges I needed to fix I needed to:

1). Get ahold of some ComputerEyes/816 Paint image compatible display, slideshow and or animation software.

2). Work out the rest of the story elements that I didn't before.

3). Somehow get ahold of some more first person footage for each of these actions.2). Work out the rest of the story elements that I didn't before.

3). Somehow get ahold of some more first person footage for each of these actions.

So for problem 1, I looked through every forum and archive I could until I eventuall found a slideshow presentation program called Slide Shop It was released in 1988, and its buy A company that would be the last company you would expect to make computer software: Scholastic Enterprises!

The title screen for Slide Shop (1988)

While Scholastic was founded in 1923 they mainly worked on educational story books for both schools and homes. But by the time the Early 80's rolled around they wanted to have a shot (Presumabky because the Apple II was popular in the educational market where Scolastic's main customer base was). in 1983 they formed Scolastic Wizware, and continued to epand into computer software unti 1989.

To make slides all I needed to do was select grapical slide, got to use backround, select the prame, and then save it onto anoter disk.

I began on april 7th but Due to time I couldednt do it all in once. In fact the project itself has stalled due to personal responsibilitys. However I am still determend to get this game made and availiby by October or November.

So to reca[ up my challenges I need to fix I need to:

1). Get all of the frames into Slide Shop Slides

2). Work out the rest of the story elements that I didn't before.

3). Somehow get ahold of some more first person footage for each of these actions.

4). Work out the actual dode and soft ware (Graphics Magician and RenPy)

Again, these are going to be difficult , but I feel I can work something out. But that wraps up this breif entry on SpyGames for now, I plan to return with another entry when before of thes problems occur and I get more into the RenPy side of the project and work out the story and multiple choice elements. But until then that wraps it up for my entry today, as always, Thanks for reading! see you next time!
