The long walk for the shamrock shake

Hello it's blogging time once again and it's St. Patrick's Day again! and for today's blog celebrating, I thought I would retell my experience to get of going out to get lunch to get mcdonalds to get their signature menu item offered every St. Patrick's Day: The Shamrock Shake

The Shamrock Shake

Yes, i've already mentioned the history of the Shamrock Shake and its Uncle O'Grimacey mascot used to advertise it back in the 70's, and mentioned the shakes cult reputation it has with a lot of people, myself included.

Indeed, I myself have taken a liking to the minty shakes, so much so that every St. Patrick's Day, I take a walk to the local Mcdonalds here in town just to get a meal with one. Now being that I don't have a car or a driver's license, that means I have the only other form of transportation I have, Walking!

Yes that's right, I walk for a full 2.7 miles just to get McDonalds! While that may sound crazy, its not quite as unbeneficial to me as you would think, And that's because aside from moving around campus for classes and whatnot, I really don't get outside much! i mainly blame that on a bee sting incident that occured when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Ever since than for a couple of years up until i got into an actual middle school, i didn't play outside much. You know that episode of Spogebob where he gets an injury from sandboarding and never comes outside? Yeah, That was me for all those years! and to this day when a bee or hornet lands on me or is near me i start freaking out!

But anyway enough about why i dont go outside much lets get to the journey. As I started to leave the campus, i started to walk down the road and I was greeted by some streams. Yep, as i see it, it's becoming spring when the ice becomes flowing water again!

Less pleasing to look at is litter! yes i've seen my fair share of litter on the ground. Sure, litter on the ground is rather unfortunate. Now i have occasionally picked up some cans to recycle at the redemption place in town, but i've recently stopped due to the long trek! I know I should be doing that little bit in helping but you know.

Speaking of which i found a happy meal box, a empty mcnugget box and some sauces, so looks lie somebody's already been to mcdonalds before me!

You can just about see it in this photo dont worry ill come back to it!

Anyway as the journey progressed i started to see some more lovely nature like this:

Less fortunate i say more litter some of which is just strange like a Blue Razzberry Laffy Taffy wrapper (A flavor I didn't even know existed), and a top of a can that somehow got on the ground. Unless its like a tuna can i have no idea how that works!:

But eventually I reached my destination and was able to go up to the kiosk and place my order: A McDouble with cheese, Medium fry, and of course a large Shamrock Shake! all coming out to $11.74.

And other than a paying mishap i was able to get the meal all payed and accounted for! The weird thing about the Shamrock Shake for me is that each year I always forget the flavor of it! I know its supposed to be mint but i forget the exact taste! but it was indeed minty.

You can see this is still during McDonalds "WcDonalds" campaign, Something I don't fully understand, but appreciate the older McDonalds logo used for it!

Unfortunately, the trip back did not go as planed as it rained, Very Hard! so much so i had to break from the walk to get inside the Lyndonvile diner and the Cumberland Farms because my sandles were muddy and gritty, and the bottom of my jeans, the back of my shirt and winter coat were just soaking wet! It was from this that contrary to my thoughts before hand winter coats make terrible raincoats!

The rain did eventually stop and i was able to make the trip back. I had to clean my feet and change my jeans, but overall, it was a good trip!

And heres that happymeal litter i mentioned earlier

And that was my trip to get a Shamrock Shake meal from McDonalds. I know its not the most exciting thing to blog about, but the problem is there really isn't as much St. Patrick's Day stuff to blog about as i want. But next year i do have the topic for something more interesting, But until then, Happy St. Patrick's Day, and Thanks for reading! see you next time!
